Do you need it? I can't yet see that file, but that PAK wasn't in
the E9.2 field test set, either.
https://docs.vmssoftware.com/vsi-tcpip-services-for-openvms-installation-and-configuration/#LICEN_SEC
On OpenVMS I64 systems, an OpenVMS Operating Environment (OE) PAK
must be installed. The license for TCP/IP Services for OpenVMS is
contained within each of the OE licenses.
So, if you have something like OPENVMS-X86-HAOE, then you should be
ok. Run the experiment rather than look for trouble? (What could go
wrong?)

Based on E9.2, I'd look in:
SYS$COMMON:[SYSHLP.UNSUPPORTED.UNZIP]
UNZIP == "$ SYS$COMMON:[SYSHLP.UNSUPPORTED.UNZIP]UNZIP.EXE"

All licenses from community PAK is installed.

I'd expect that "OPENVMS-X86-BOE" to do the job.
Your picture looks to me like output from "LICENSE LIST". What does
"SHOW LICENSE" say? "Registered" is one thing; "loaded" is another.
Everything's complicated.
Try "LICENSE LOAD"? I'd expect a VSI-supplied DCL script to do the
required "LICENSE LOAD" operation(s), but I haven't yet seen this one,
so I know nothing.
Also, copy+paste is your friend. Working with actual plain text is
easier than working with a picture of plain text.

I tried it, but it is still not in the "show license" listing.sms wrote: ↑Tue Apr 11, 2023 1:59 amCode: Select all

Code: Select all

To answer myself, I skipped an important step:
Code: Select all
license enable OPENVMS-X86-BOE
Re: TCPIP LICENSE PAK
Code: Select all
> license enable OPENVMS-X86-BOE
Ok, but that prompts the next question: How did it get DISabled?
(LICENSE ISSUE would do it.)

Re: TCPIP LICENSE PAK
Does the DCL command
$ LICENSE LIST /HISTORY OPENVMS-X86-BOE
give a clue as to how the license was disabled?

OpenVMS operating system licenses are bundled with additional products into operating environments (OEs). The OE bundles are groups of individual products offered together under a single license. An OE license grants the right to use all the components included in the specified OE.
Two OE environments are available: BOE (Base Operating Environment) and HA-OE (High Availability Operating Environment). These environments offer base operating system functionality along with additional capability, based on the OE. The operating environments are tiered in a hierarchy where HA-OE contains everything in the BOE plus additional functionality.
The following technologies are licensed as part of the VSI OpenVMS for x86-64 servers OE environments :

Re: TCPIP LICENSE PAK
Interesting to see that X.500 DSA is included. Does this mean that an x86 port is on the cards? I'd love to be able to run this, along with MAILbus 400 MTA if possible.
Back in the mid-late 1990s I put together a system which provided mail gateway services to around 20,000 ALL-IN-ONE users. MAILbus 400 MTA ran on an Alpha system which acted as the main hub and looked up address translations in X.500. This was bridged with the corporate mail system via Message Router/MAILbus gateway running on a VAX. The Alpha system had an X.25 PSDN connection to an ADMD service provider for public X.400 email. Finally a second Alpha system ran OSF/1 and the MAILbus/SMTP gateway to provide Internet e-mail. It was a fun project!
