I got a Community License, finally found some personal time, so I tried to install it in a KMS instance, but SURPRISE: There is nothing in my Packages, so I can't install anything. Probably my "community license" expired or something. As the person who decides if my company will keep the couple of hundred VMS machines and try to migrate them to x86_64 or just switches everything to RT Linux, guess what am I going to decide. Goodbye...

The community license was never supposed to be for evaluating commercial migrations, although during the field test period for x86, you'd think any exposure is good exposure and it wouldn't really matter how you got access. I believe the field test may be officially over now, although there are clearly some things that aren't quite there yet. It should be pretty easy to get evaluation licenses at https://vmssoftware.com/products/licenses/. Or write to sales AT vmssoftware.com and explain what you need.

   I'm only a Community peon who pays nothing, and does not represent
VSI in any way, so my opinion might not be highly prized, but...

   If I actually had a serious desire to migrate any commercially
licensed VMS systems, then I would be contacting sales@ about getting an
evaluation license (which I assume would offer some actual support),
instead of fiddling around with the Community program.

   The Community program might be useful in a situation like yours, but,
I believe, such was not its target market.  If the failure of the
(recently degraded) Community program to satisfy needs like yours is
enough to stop you from pursuing a more appropriate channel, then you
don't seem (to me) to be serious.
