We have two DS25 Alphas running VMS 7.3-1, TCP/IP 5.3 ECO 4, and DECnet Plus.
Both Alphas have two network adapters and we are running DECnet over TCP/IP.
The Alphas communicate with each other via a Cisco switch. We have
consistently had good communic
ation over TCP/IP but depending on the network adapter mode ( i.e. 10 mbps, 100
mbps, half duplex, full duplex) DECnet is noticeably slow. Set host via
DECnet, remote directory commands, and file copy can be very slow. Since the
TCP/IP is very fast we fe
el that the basic network is sound. Are there any guidelines for DECnet
operation and network adapter modes in a switched network or are there any
other procedures we should try? We only use one network adapter at a time and
the problem exists for both
adapters.
(9840) DECnet-Plus Network Performance?
Re: (9840) DECnet-Plus Network Performance?
Assuming you are current with ECO kits for OpenVMS and for DECnet,
please contact the support center as details from the LAN, NIC, and
switch network configuration, as well as the network counters, will
be required. This could be a problem with back-translation, DECdns
or DNS/BIND, or other such, or it could have some other cause.
