Volume shadow Copy - Interrupted

Post by vmskostoff » Fri Jul 12, 2019 10:40 am

I have two Integrity-Itaniums, OpenVMS 8.4 with SAN and local disks.
I was in midst of "crisis" and interrupted the Volume Shadow Copy to local disks on backup node.
System disk has SAN and two local disks for shadow set. APPLICATION disk only has two local disks for
shadow set. It is these two that I had issues with.

Local disks after another reboot would not "MOUNT" as a volume shadow member and set.

My alternative was to restore to local disk. Reboot. Volume shadow member, good.

When a volume shadow copy starts, do not interrupt?
Is it normal if it is interrupted, 5 minutes into, you will have issues?

the state of the target disk of a shadow set copy is undefined if the shadow set copy is interrupted so the target disk can be unmountable in such cases.
