ODS-2 vs ODS-5 for System Disk

Post by poorfellow » Tue Sep 01, 2020 12:20 pm

Hello,

I've read that, at some point, ODS-5 didn't support certain system files (swap/paging/etc). Is this still the case, or is it safe to now use ODS-5 for everything?

Thanks!

It MAY have been as such in tyhe very, very early days, probably when you run VAX and older VMS systems. On AXP and IA64 there is no restriction using ODS-5 for everything - even system disks. I'm on ODS-5 on all disks on all systems without a problem.
