Virtual Alpha: Heavy CPU-load on host

I'm running VMS in Avanti's 'Virtual Alpha' on my Windows computer.
It causes a constant CPU load of ~10-15% although the virtual system is in idle.

It's annoying because the CPU fan rises it's RPM and gets noisy! :x

Hello Jonas,

This is an emulator that translates CPU instructions of one architecture to another in real time. It is a very performance-heavy task which causes high CPU load. There's hardly any way around this, especially considering the fact that Alpha and x86 are very different and the free version of Avanti does not allow enabling JIT compilation which improves overall effectiveness of the emulation.

You might try the current version of FreeAXP, which includes an automatic CPU idle feature. See the Auto-idle in the FreeAXP User Guide.
