A small DCL request....

I would like the ability in DCL to perform a non-destructive read of a MAILBOX - a peek as it were. (I'd also like to do this in a compiled language like C)
Currently reading a mailbox removes the data, I'd like to look at the data from a monitoring program without changing it.
I know there's a ton of more critical stuff in the queue already, but it would be useful...
