DECset PCA use with detached processes

Post by garyrevell » Thu Mar 10, 2022 5:40 am

Morning all,

We've got a number of detached processes of which we'd like to run PCA on to help find where CPU/IO etc bottlenecks are occurring. I've used PCA with interactive processes to start collecting data, then exiting and running the analyser to plot hotspots etc.

But how do you do this for detached processes? I realise there's no doubt some what of specifying input to the process so that it receives a "GO" <CR> to start its collecting but I'm not sure how to do it, and my attempts so far have not proved successful. It's not really practical to run these processes interactively without having to do a lot of work in the startup command files etc.

So, any tips/hints etc would be really useful.

Thanks in advance.

Gary

Had some useful info' back from VSI, they recommend using SDA to capture PCS trace info and I'll give this a try too.
