Since I upgraded one of my VMware hosts from 7.0.3, 20328353 to 7.0.3, 21930508, OpenVMS VMs do not boot any more. The error in VMware is
The firmware encountered an unexpected exception. The virtual machine cannot boot.
This is OpenVMS V9.2-1.
Upgrading the VM from V9.2-1 to V9.2-2 gives this error on the same host:
%PCSIUI-E-ABORT, operation terminated due to an unrecoverable error condition
Oddly enough, the installed version it finds is V8.9-1D for some reason...
Any ideas?
Problem on VMware ESXi 7.0.3, 21930508

Before upgrading to 9.2-2, you need to uninstall OpenSSH. This is what the 8.9-1D error is about.

Re: Problem on VMware ESXi 7.0.3, 21930508
This doesn't help much, but I've been running ESXi-7.0U3n-21930508-standard from the beginning. That version has given me no problems. So it might be because it was an upgrade?
I have my original x86 install of E9.2 upgraded to V9.2-1 plus I just created a new VM running V9.2-2 and both work without issues.

Interesting. I will try that. Thanks.
Added in 57 seconds:
The host in question was actually newly-added (or rather re-added) after a fresh install. ESXi has not been upgraded as such. I will try to upgrade the VMS VM and see if that helps.reinhardtjh wrote: ↑Sat Feb 17, 2024 2:20 pmThis doesn't help much, but I've been running ESXi-7.0U3n-21930508-standard from the beginning.
