8.4.2-L1 on rx1620 Installation Issue

Post by poorfellow » Tue Sep 01, 2020 10:26 am

Hello,

I have a rx1620 that installed 8.4.2 without issue, but the system just will not boot the 8.4.2-L1 media. I've tried several burn attempts, as well as re-downloading and re-verifying the checksum.

The system begins the boot process, and dies here:

Device Path Acpi(HWP0002,0)/Pci(1|0)/Usb(0, 0)
........................................................................................................................................

%VMS_LOADER-I-TRANSFER: Starting VSI OpenVMS...

VMS Software, Inc. OpenVMS (TM) IA64 Operating System, V8.4-2L1
Copyright 2016 VMS Software, Inc.

%INITIODB-F-CL_PD_FAILED, Desired class or pseudo driver look-up failed.

%SMP-I-CPUTRN, CPU #1 has joined the active set.

Again, 8.4.2 boots just fine, so I'm at a bit of a loss. There is no further output to help me troubleshoot.

Hoping someone has seen this, or knows of a way to actually perform the upgrade to L1 without having to boot from the installation media.

Thanks!

We recommend reverting back to V8.4-2, no changes will be made to the V8,4-2L1 media. You can retry when the V8.4-2L3 Integrity version is available later this year.

This issue should be fixed in the Integrity OpenVMS V8.4-2L3 release scheduled for the first half of 2021.
